Young Learner Listening & Reading Placement Test

For the Receptive Skills part of the test (Reading, Listening) there are always 15 items.

These 15 items are in 3 parts for each section, each part consisting of 5 items. The actual level of difficulty is the following:

  • Items 1-5 of each section are at level Pre A1 to A1 according to CEFR and the Cambridge syllabus.

  • Items 6-10 of each section are at level A1+ to A2.

  • Items 11-15 of each section are at level A2+ to B1.

For the rest of the Objective part of the test (Grammar, Vocabulary) there are always 15 items.

The sequence of all items can either remain unchanged (as we have sent them to you) or it can be ‘shuffled’ if you choose this option.

The results will be the same, based on samples of 400 candidates.

The accuracy of the CEFR alignment is very high. That’s more than 95%.

The duration of the test can vary, depending on 3 main factors.

A. The ‘theoretical’ entry-level (the one a teacher or the candidates themselves would ‘anticipate’) of each candidate B. The age of each candidate (group 1: ages 7-9, group 2: ages 9-11, group 3: ages 11-12)
